Job Overview

Position: Facilities Maintenance/Plumber


Salary: Grade 11, $37.30 per hour; compensation will vary based on qualifications and experience.


Role Summary:

Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, this role encompasses a range of skilled technical responsibilities associated with the management, organization, and execution of facility maintenance and operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts preventive maintenance and repairs on plumbing fixtures across all city-owned facilities, including toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, and more.
  • Ensures adherence to facility security protocols and oversees the functionality of various security systems, including alarms and emergency lighting.
  • Responds promptly to system alerts, assesses emergencies, and implements necessary solutions.
  • Supervises and coordinates work projects, taking on a leadership role as needed.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of plumbing materials and supplies.
  • May perform custodial tasks within city-owned buildings.
  • Operates a passenger van for transporting community members to recreational events.
  • Clears snow and ice from city facilities and walkways.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or specialized training in plumbing.
  • At least 5 years of plumbing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in facilities maintenance, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or HVAC.
  • 2+ years of experience with computerized maintenance systems.
  • Gas technician certification is required.
  • Custodial experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong skills in email and internet usage.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

Special Requirements:
