Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division, is in search of a qualified Systems Engineering Leader to oversee the EspaSat-L product line.

This Lead Systems Engineer will be accountable for directing the space segment technical team, encompassing the following responsibilities:

systems analysis and trade-offs, coordinating space segment engineering tasks, managing engineering baselines, overseeing interfaces, requirements and verification/validation management, and developing and executing integration and test campaigns, along with subcontractor technical oversight, CAM duties, and preparing and presenting systems engineering materials at all significant reviews and PMRs.

The role entails both individual contributions and leadership within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

The successful candidate will also be called upon to assist with additional tasks, including architectural studies, mission support, and traditional Systems Engineering functions.

In this leadership capacity, the Lead Systems Engineer is expected to be self-motivated, leveraging prior experience to guide design, analysis, and execution efforts.

Candidates must be adept at identifying and addressing space segment technical challenges and risks while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.


Responsibilities:
Lead and provide substantial support to the entire space segment technical team. Guide and enhance space vehicle design, processing, and mission success. Diagnose and devise solutions to intricate challenges that may arise during the program. Generate, author, and/or contribute to major program data products and other deliverables.

Technical management of program components Plan and conduct technical reviews and manage the technical baseline. Draft status updates and technical performance assessments and reports. Mentor, coach, train, guide, direct, and advise junior staff while being able to identify and mitigate technical issues and risks while operating within budget and on schedule.

The candidate will collaborate with cross-disciplinary team members and must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the program team's objectives.


Basic Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field, and 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

Extensive technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems, including space systems development, manufacturing, testing, or operations, along with previous technical or project leadership roles. Comprehensive understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration, and testing. A thorough grasp and broad application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.

General knowledge of other related disciplines is essential. Must be proactive and work under general direction. Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Ability to lead a diverse, multidisciplinary engineering team. Must have US Citizenship with current or active DoD TS clearance with SCI Eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering. Experience with fast-paced production spacecraft programs. Familiarity with the EspaSat-L product line. Existing SCI and/or Program Access.

Salary Range:
$107,300 - $160,900. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
