Position Overview:
TEC Equipment is seeking a skilled Construction Project Superintendent to oversee multiple active commercial projects throughout the Los Angeles Metro Area. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in managing all phases of construction, from initial planning to project completion. This role requires effective coordination of vendors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budgets. The successful applicant will be proactive, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excel in motivating both internal and external teams.

Key Responsibilities:
On-site Project Management:

  • Supervise all stages of construction, from pre-construction meetings to final occupancy.
  • Occasional travel for on-site oversight may be necessary.
  • Lead internal and external construction teams to ensure project success.
  • Maintain and track project schedules, utilizing tools such as SmartSheets or MS Project.
  • Coordinate on-site activities to promote efficient workflow.
  • Monitor project expenses to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential conflicts proactively.
  • Document daily activities and report weekly to the Director of Construction.

Pre-Construction Activities:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of plans and maintain organized document control.
  • Assist in project buyout processes, including vendor solicitation and bid analysis.
  • Facilitate initial project planning and scheduling.
  • Set up project logistics, including temporary facilities and pre-construction meetings.

Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Regularly assess trade workmanship for quality and compliance with building codes.
  • Stay informed about relevant building codes and utility requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections with building officials and ensure all corrections are addressed.

Employee Management:

  • Provide clear guidance and supervision to team members, offering constructive feedback.
  • Review and approve payments for trade partners.

Resource Management:

  • Effectively manage time and prioritize resources.
  • Schedule and oversee all subcontractors to meet project demands.
  • Foster positive relationships with all trade partners.

Safety Management:

  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans, holding all partners accountable.
  • Maintain OSHA certification and conduct regular safety meetings.
  • Effectively address safety challenges related to job site conditions.
  • Communicate safety protocols to new hires and ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of five years in a lead superintendent role within commercial construction.
  • Experience managing projects valued between $5-20M, particularly in civil/site work.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction trades.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with all stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with LEAN principles and Critical Path Project Planning.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project).
  • Ability to provide clear direction and resolve issues effectively.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Compensation and Benefits:
