Role Overview:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will deliver patient care in accordance with the principles and practices of Practical Nursing, under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role does not necessitate the advanced specialized skills, judgment, and knowledge required of professional nursing.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1.

Possession of a current, unencumbered license from the PA Board of Practical Nursing, or the relevant state board where services will be rendered, as a practical nurse, or a current multi-state license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

2.

Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of hire.



CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements outline the general nature of work performed by individuals in this role. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties. Additional tasks may be assigned.


1. Deliver direct patient care as specified in the patient's care plan and/or as directed by the Registered Nurse, aimed at promoting comfort and facilitating a return to optimal health.

2. Provide timely direct patient care to all assigned individuals, ensuring comfort and hygiene.

3. Execute designated therapeutic procedures for assigned patients as necessary.

4. Accurately observe, document, and communicate to the Registered Nurse all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress in a timely manner.

5. Assist physicians and the Registered Nurse during examinations and procedures as assigned.

6. Utilize available resources in a cost-effective manner to help manage patient expenses.

7. Contribute to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording both objective and subjective data accurately and promptly.

8. Monitor and document any changes in the patient's condition, reporting findings to the Registered Nurse.

9. Participate in the development of the patient's care plan by providing relevant data, assisting in identifying priorities, and suggesting measures to maintain comfort and support human functions and responses.

10. Aid in patient and family education and rehabilitation by discussing patient needs with the Registered Nurse and adhering to the established teaching plan.

11. Document nursing interventions and responses to care, ensuring effective communication with relevant members of the healthcare team.

12. Provide patient care within designated shifts, adhering to the nursing process and within the scope of practice.

13. Employ standards of care and practice to guide care delivery.

14. Safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, and oral medications as assigned.

15. Accept accountability for care provided by oneself and any healthcare providers to whom care is delegated.

16. Consult with the Registered Nurse for guidance in delivering nursing care as needed.

17. Seek instruction and supervision from the Registered Nurse when implementing nursing techniques or practices.

This role requires strength and/or stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning patients, standing, walking, and carrying patients, materials, and equipment weighing over 40 lbs.
