We are currently seeking a part-time Chef Instructor to lead our Professional Culinary Programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for teaching, along with professional culinary training and experience. This role is essential in helping our students build confidence in a professional kitchen environment while mastering culinary techniques and diverse cuisines.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee a class of up to 15 students, ensuring an engaging and productive learning atmosphere.
- Deliver lectures on culinary topics, utilizing provided materials and technology, including PowerPoint presentations.
- Assign and explain daily recipes, guiding students through the preparation process while maintaining kitchen order.
- Evaluate student performance through practical assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Administer quizzes and track student progress, reporting results to the Director of Education.
- Maintain attendance records and participate in faculty meetings as required.
- Support students in their culinary journey, including tutoring those who may need additional assistance.
- Ensure the kitchen and lecture spaces are properly set up and maintained, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
- A minimum of 5 years of culinary experience in a professional setting.
- At least 2 years of experience in culinary instruction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using technology in the classroom.
- Ability to communicate effectively and foster a positive learning environment.
- Must pass a background check as part of the hiring process.
This is a part-time, per diem position with variable class schedules based on demand and availability.
Physical RequirementsInstructors should be able to lift up to 25 pounds and remain on their feet for extended periods, as well as handle kitchen equipment and materials.
Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily based in commercial kitchens, which may present varying conditions in terms of temperature and humidity.
