Job Summary

The Patient Access Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Patient Access department. This role requires a strong leader who can implement quality management programs, manage staff, and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the day-to-day functions of the Patient Access department, ensuring timely processing and efficient workflow.
  2. Communicate process and protocol to staff, develop and implement new procedures, and direct training of new employees.
  3. Support the department leadership team in problem-solving, addressing issues, and promoting effective working relations.
  4. Assist with Human Resource management functions, including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy development.
  5. Oversee production and quality of department performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and established departmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Associate's level degree or higher, preferred
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) or any other accredited association approved by the Manager, preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in Patient Access
  • Previous experience in a lead or supervisory role, preferred
Physical Requirements

The employee will need to see and read information, documents, assess patient needs, operate monitors and computers, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require the employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
