Job Overview
The Patient Access Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily functions of the Patient Access department. This position is tasked with the implementation of thorough quality management initiatives that align with standard operating procedures and the regulations set forth by certifying, licensing, and accrediting bodies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the daily operations of the Patient Access department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely processing. Collaborate with the leadership team to assess service needs and adjust staffing levels as necessary. Assign daily tasks and serve as a resource for departmental activities.
2. Communicate protocols and processes to staff effectively. Develop and implement training programs for new employees, utilizing knowledge of insurance plans to address incomplete or outstanding claims. Investigate and resolve billing and insurance issues while ensuring compliance with departmental policies.
3. Support the leadership team in addressing operational challenges, including escalated inquiries and workflow processes. Foster effective interdepartmental relationships to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
4. Assist with human resource functions such as interviewing, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with leadership to provide corrective feedback and maintain personnel records.
5. Oversee departmental performance metrics to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Work with the leadership team to identify process improvements and ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and quality assurance standards.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Strong typing and computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare benefit plans.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Preferred: Associate's degree or higher.
- Minimum of three years of experience in Patient Access, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires the ability to see and read documents, communicate effectively, and perform manual tasks with precision. Candidates should be able to lift and carry items of varying weights and stand for extended periods.
