Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
This position entails various technical duties to support the 24/7 operations of the Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) units. Your contributions will significantly impact the lives of our patients and their families.

  • Collaborate with other hospital departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide essential nursing care for patients in the critical care unit.
  • Assist in the placement of various types of catheters (IV, urinary, etc.).
  • Support after-hours pharmaceutical requests for hospitalized patients.
  • Conduct radiographic procedures for patients during off-hours.
  • Facilitate sedation and anesthesia for patients within the ECC.
  • Manage client communications for the Emergency and Critical Care Units, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Timely and accurate entry of charges for hospital patients.
  • Collect and submit laboratory samples from patients.
  • Adhere to all hospital and institutional policies and procedures.
  • Gain proficiency in unit equipment, assisting with its operation and maintenance.
  • Participate in on-call shifts as required.
  • Assist in mentoring and training less experienced staff and students.
  • Prioritize and stabilize patients effectively.
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude within the team.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency or critical care veterinary settings.
  • Exceptional technical and communication skills, including the ability to triage effectively.
  • Capability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs independently and perform specialized tasks.

Education Requirements:
  • Required: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree in a related field

Work Schedule:
This position requires availability for weekdays, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, ensuring continuous patient care.

Compensation:
The salary starts at a minimum of $22.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, with potential for a sign-on bonus based on employment terms.
