Operating Room Surgical Aide

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room Surgical Aide to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As an integral part of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered.
Under the direct supervision of the registered professional nurse, the Pod Leader, and the Operating Room Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for the transportation of patients to and from the Operating Room and other locations. You will also assist nursing staff in the rooms with patient care, including positioning and transfer of anesthetized patients, as well as supporting limbs during a surgical skin prep.
Additional responsibilities include performing a shave prep of the patient prior to surgery, according to established guidelines, and the delivery of specimens and blood products to and from the Laboratory and Radiology. You will also be responsible for between-case cleaning, handling of infectious waste, sharps, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the Pods and CSR2 Soiled area.
As a key member of our surgical team, you will prioritize patient care tasks and communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Transport patients to and from the Operating Room and other locations
- Assist nursing staff with patient care, including positioning and transfer of anesthetized patients
- Perform shave prep of patients prior to surgery, according to established guidelines
- Deliver specimens and blood products to and from the Laboratory and Radiology
- Perform between-case cleaning and handle infectious waste, sharps, and maintain order and cleanliness in the Pods and CSR2 Soiled area
- Prioritize patient care tasks and communicate effectively with healthcare team members
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- CPR training required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively with healthcare team members
