Job Summary
The primary duty of the Concrete Mixer Operator is to transport concrete to various job sites and ensure proper discharge of loads. This role involves navigating diverse environments, including uneven terrain, and may require the handling of extension chutes weighing between thirty to fifty pounds.
The Concrete Mixer Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the concrete mixer truck utilized in the delivery of products associated with the company's concrete operations.
Key Responsibilities- Safely operate the truck to and from designated locations, adhering to DOT driving regulations and familiarizing oneself with local roadways.
- Inspect loads to confirm that products are transported safely and appropriately.
- Assess the consistency of concrete mixtures.
- Identify the differences between suitable and unsuitable mixes.
- Recognize color variations in concrete mixes.
- Confirm delivery instructions with plant personnel prior to departure to ensure accurate delivery.
- Aim to meet customer expectations consistently, achieving high satisfaction ratings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers to enhance business opportunities.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle using approved cleaning supplies.
- Present a professional appearance, maintaining a neat and tidy uniform.
- Maintain communication with supervisors and dispatch for delivery instructions.
- Assist colleagues as required.
- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and its equipment.
- Perform minor roadside repairs as necessary.
- Possess a thorough understanding of local traffic routes.
- Follow instructions and guidance from supervisors and management.
- Foster a collaborative team environment with all company personnel and customers.
- Comply with all CEMEX, D.O.T., and O.S.H.A. regulations at all times.
- Meet or exceed established safety standards.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL A or B) is required.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Acceptable CSA standards.
- No DUIs or DWIs in the past five years; no more than three moving violations in the last three years.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and outdoor environments.
- Protective equipment must be worn while on site.
- Job involves walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
- Heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
- Regular communication is necessary for safety and coordination.
- Must be capable of operating controls effectively.
- Must pass a DOT physical examination, including a back x-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screening.
