Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Bakery Operations Specialist to join our team at Northgate Markets. As a key member of our bakery department, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality baked goods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist in receiving and unloading merchandise, verifying vendor invoices and checking products for quality, count, and condition.
- Prepare dough and scratch baking mixtures according to established company procedures and recipes.
- Operate mixers, sheeters, and other equipment to produce high-quality baked goods.
- Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory control of ingredients and supplies.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
- Monitor product sales to ensure optimal production levels and minimize waste.
- Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties, including lifting moderate to heavy weights.
- Respond to emergencies and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements and Conditions:
- High school education preferred, but not required.
- Minimum one year experience in full bakery operations and procedures, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Health department training required.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, verify vendor invoice charges, and complete accounting reports.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English effectively.
- Ability to pass a standard drug test and qualify as being drug-free under the legal and medical guidelines permitted by the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Occasionally exert or lift up to 70 pounds, and frequently exert or lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Specific vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve inaccessible items from overhead storage shelves and racks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to refrigerated frozen food storage areas.
