Job Overview

This role is essential for monitoring visitors at the municipal swimming facilities, ensuring their well-being by proactively preventing and addressing emergencies.

*This position is classified as "safety-sensitive" and is subject to random drug testing in accordance with city policies.*

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts vigilant observation of guests within the aquatic environment.
  • Identifies emergencies and reacts swiftly and effectively.
  • Implements all policies, rules, and regulations of the swimming facility.
  • Performs opening and closing tasks, including equipment setup, restroom sanitation, waste management, and pool cleaning.
  • Assists guests courteously while maintaining constant surveillance.
  • Inspects the facility daily, reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment issues to the Pool Manager.
  • Maintains accurate records and reports in a professional manner.
  • Engages in regular training sessions to enhance skills.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (or equivalent).
  • Must hold current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (or equivalent).
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Oklahoma.
Physical Demands

The role typically involves sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee will need to climb ladders, navigate stairs, and communicate effectively. Occasionally, the employee may lift, pull, push, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

This position is primarily outdoors, exposing the employee to loud noises, hazardous pool chemicals, and varying weather conditions.

Employment is contingent upon verification of credentials and completion of a background check and drug/physical screening.
