Assistant Manager at Schlotzsky's

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in aiding the management team across all facets of shift operations to guarantee effective performance, exceptional Guest service, and the realization of financial objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management

  • Collaborates with the General Manager to effectively communicate weekly and periodic variances from budgeted figures in relation to in-store and final Profit & Loss statements.
  • Articulates financial targets to team members and provides guidance to achieve these objectives.
  • Implements proper security and cash handling protocols, ensuring cashiers adhere to established policies.
  • Assists in conducting daily and weekly inventory counts accurately and punctually.
  • Supports the General Manager in timely ordering of food, produce, paper, and supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Works alongside the General Manager to keep labor, food, and supply costs within budgetary constraints.
  • Utilizes and maintains all reporting and tracking systems for financial performance.
  • Upholds a high standard of integrity in all financial documentation.

Team Development

  • Provides clear guidance and leadership to all Team Leaders and staff members.
  • Acts as a role model for all employees by exemplifying professionalism within the establishment.
  • Encourages an 'Open Door Policy' within the restaurant, ensuring accessibility to all staff.
  • Participates in interviewing candidates for hourly positions and makes hiring recommendations to the General Manager.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new hires.
  • Submits necessary new hire paperwork and payroll documents to the appropriate departments in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that systems and resources are in place for effective employee training.
  • Regularly counsels and documents performance, attendance, or behavioral issues encountered with hourly employees.
  • Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing levels in the restaurant.
  • Contributes to preparing performance evaluations for hourly employees.
  • Supports the General Manager in addressing performance issues and terminations.
  • Operates the restaurant with unwavering integrity and adherence to policies.

Operational Excellence

Quality, Service, and Cleanliness

  • Assists the General Manager in upholding cleanliness standards throughout the restaurant.
  • Completes necessary checklists for QSC Sales Drivers, readiness for business, and cleanliness on each shift.
  • Ensures employees comply with uniform and grooming standards consistently.
  • Guarantees that all recipes and food quality standards are met without exception.
  • Maintains adherence to sanitation protocols at all times.
  • Fosters a positive relationship with local health officials and promptly addresses any concerns.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with established speed of service standards.
  • Assists in conducting quarterly QSC audits of the restaurant.
  • Ensures guests receive courteous and friendly service.
  • Addresses and resolves guest issues professionally and promptly.
  • Oversees dining room management and guest interactions during shifts.
  • Supports the General Manager in maintaining the restaurant's condition.
  • Operates the restaurant with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.

Facility Management

  • Assists the General Manager in ensuring equipment is functioning properly.
  • Helps with procurement of smallware supplies necessary for operations.
  • Supports timely repairs of equipment and facilities.
  • Participates in preventive maintenance of equipment consistently.
  • Assists in executing upgrades and enhancements as directed.
  • Ensures all employees follow safety and security protocols in line with company standards.

Marketing Initiatives

  • Implements all national and company-sponsored marketing campaigns and events.
  • Assists in developing a quarterly local marketing strategy for the restaurant.
  • Encourages internal marketing through suggestive selling and positive guest interactions.

General and Physical Requirements

  • Most responsibilities require standing or walking for a typical 9-10 hour shift.
  • Regularly interacts with employees and monitors customer satisfaction throughout the restaurant.
  • Involves frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and lifting.
  • Utilizes a keyboard daily for data entry.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Should be capable of performing any employee's duties as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation for necessary tasks.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
