We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Photonics Researcher to join our Quantum Technologies Team at the Leidos Innovation Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantum optics, chip integrated photonics, and free space optical systems.

In this role, you will participate in the full life cycle of research and development, including design, simulation, build, characterization, and analysis of optics/optoelectronics/photonics experiments. You will also perform laboratory and field tests to prove and validate quantum experimental theories as viable products in applicable domains.

Additionally, you will write proposals, publish papers, attend and present at conferences, and brief internal and external customers on your research findings. You will collaborate with other team members, engineers, and scientists across the company to leverage quantum technologies and achieve organizational goals.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in physics, applied physics, engineering, or a related field, with research experience and experimental background in one or more areas such as quantum optics, chip integrated photonics, and quantum entanglement.

You will also have experience with photonic design simulation tools, layout design, tapeout, and design rule checking, as well as packaging of photonic integrated circuits and familiarity with optics lab design and operation.

A strong desire to learn new technologies and flexibility to change from one project to another quickly is essential for this role. You will also need to be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The estimated salary for this position is $85,150 - $153,925 per year, based on the company's pay range guidelines.
