Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

The Department of Kinesiology at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Strength and Conditioning and Human Performance and Wellness Management. The successful candidate will teach, maintain an active research agenda, mentor students, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in Strength and Conditioning and Human Performance and Wellness Management
- Maintain an active research agenda in Strength and Conditioning and Human Performance and Wellness Management
- Mentor students in Strength and Conditioning and Human Performance and Wellness Management
- Seek accreditation through Council on Accreditation of Strength and Conditioning Education (CASCE)
- Perform university and professional service
- Contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement
Expertise in the scientific principles of strength and conditioning, and resistance training and conditioning is strongly desired. Experience with program design, administration, and oversight, as well as supervising interns, is also desired. Professional knowledge in data-driven sports science and sports nutrition is a plus.
About the DepartmentThe Department of Kinesiology at Sam Houston State University is an Education Recognized Program (ERP) through National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is working towards accreditation through CASCE. The department has two primary areas for teaching and research related to strength and conditioning/human performance, including a strength training teaching and research center and a human performance lab.
