Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our faculty as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology at Alabama A&M University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of health and physical education courses, advising students, and performing research and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Teach a range of health and physical education courses, including biomechanics of exercise, exercise physiology, and materials and methods in physical education.
  • Advising: Advise students and provide guidance on academic and professional matters.
  • Research: Conduct research in physical education or related areas, including securing external funding and publishing scholarly articles.
  • Service: Perform professional service to the university, community, and profession, including serving on departmental and university committees.
Requirements
  • Educational Background: Earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Kinesiology, Health, or a related field.
  • Teaching Experience: Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic, multicultural environment, with a documented commitment to excellence in teaching and service.
  • Research and Grant Writing: Evidence of research and grant writing experience.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in teaching with the use of technology in the classroom.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to provide positive team-oriented interaction with colleagues and model energetic and professional demeanor to students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • P-12 Teaching Experience: Candidates with P-12 physical education teaching experience in a public-school setting are preferred.
