YOUR CONTRIBUTION:

As the Head of IT Operations, you will be instrumental in steering ULTA's data center vision, architecture, and engineering initiatives. You will lead a team of skilled engineers dedicated to fostering innovation, efficiency, and scalability throughout our IT operations. This position necessitates a profound comprehension of data center technologies, a strategic outlook, and robust leadership skills to guide both direct and indirect teams toward fulfilling organizational objectives.

YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS WILL INCLUDE:
  • Infrastructure Strategy Formulation: Collaborate in crafting and implementing a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the organization's business goals, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Architectural Design: Spearhead the design and execution of scalable, dependable, and high-performance data center solutions, utilizing best practices and cutting-edge technologies.
  • Team Development: Offer strategic guidance and mentorship to engineers and architects, nurturing a culture of teamwork, innovation, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner with cross-departmental teams including Networking, Security, Cloud, Operations, and product teams to guarantee seamless integration of infrastructure solutions and alignment with business needs.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical oversight and direction on intricate data center engineering and architectural projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Performance Enhancement: Identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements within the data center(s), leading initiatives to boost performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Vendor Relations: Assess and manage partnerships with service providers and vendors, ensuring alignment with business requirements, contractual obligations, and service level agreements.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with infrastructure, security vulnerabilities, data privacy, and compliance mandates, implementing robust controls and protocols.
  • Continuous Development: Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in infrastructure (cloud and on-premises), integrating relevant advancements into the organization's cloud strategy and architecture.
  • Financial Oversight: Develop and oversee budgets for infrastructure initiatives, optimizing resource allocation and expenditures to maximize ROI while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of IT leadership experience.
  • 7+ years' experience managing technology teams in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Experience leading infrastructure teams utilizing Agile methodologies (scrum, sprints, kanban).
  • Strong collaborator with proven experience and ability to work across multiple technology and business teams.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to resolve complex or intermittent issues in a multi-vendor, integrated enterprise environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external business partners.
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices and technical systems.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry best practices regarding storage, SAN, and data protection.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and their supporting infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server and Database software suite.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux and other Unix variants.
  • Experience with Oracle Databases.
  • Experience with IT Automation methodologies and supporting technologies.
  • Experience with VDI (Citrix, Horizons, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage resolution of complex or intermittent issues in a multi-vendor, integrated enterprise environment.
  • Ability to create a roadmap and implement transformational change.
  • Availability for off-hours support including 24x7 on-call required.
