Ophthalmic Care Specialist

Position Summary:
As a Senior Ophthalmic Technician at SightMD, you will play a vital role as an assistant to our physicians. You will be cross-trained to perform a range of administrative and clinical duties, including assisting with minor surgical procedures and documenting exam details in the electronic chart.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet and greet patients, ensuring a positive experience.
- Assist physicians with patient care and minor procedures, providing exceptional support.
- Perform vision and ocular tests, explaining procedures to patients and ensuring their understanding.
- Document exam details and physician findings in the electronic chart, maintaining accurate records.
- Precept and train fellow technicians, promoting knowledge sharing and growth.
- Prepare, maintain, and clean treatment rooms and ophthalmic instruments, upholding high standards of hygiene.
- Report equipment malfunctions, ensuring seamless operations.
- Perform ancillary testing and document results, providing valuable insights.
- Administer medications according to compliance standards, prioritizing patient safety.
- Maintain inventory and assist with equipment upkeep, optimizing resources.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or one (1) year of specialized ophthalmic experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification preferred or enrolled within twelve (12) months of hire and completion within two (2) years of hire.
- Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) required or completion within 45 days of hire.
