Associate Department Head and Associate Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Department Head and Associate Professor to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in supporting the Department Head in the delivery of academic programs, ensuring compliance with departmental, college, and university strategic plans and professional accreditation boards.
Key Responsibilities- Department Leadership: Work with the Department Head to establish and maintain a long-term vision for the department, assess progress in meeting department goals, and make recommendations regarding departmental programs, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Department Curriculum: Serve as the chair of the Curriculum Committee, coordinate the development of classes from conceptualization to approval, and complete comprehensive program reviews in accordance with USG regulations.
- Department Operations: Assist in the management of daily operations, develop and submit class schedules, review and revise the university catalog, and monitor course registrations.
- Budgeting: Assist the Department Head with budget development and monitoring, review and approval of requests for funding, and review and approval of departmental expenditures.
- Personnel: Assist in the hiring and recruitment of full-time and part-time faculty, organize files for evaluation, and coordinate faculty travel and reimbursement.
- Students: Coordinate student advisement, assist with the review of student appeals, and meet with students regarding concerns about classes, faculty, and policies.
- Management and Department Recordkeeping: Supervise the maintenance of departmental records and ensure that departmental documents and websites are regularly updated.
- A terminal academic degree and current state physical therapy license or eligibility for a Georgia physical therapy license.
- Evidence of research in the field of physical therapy, credentials consistent with tenure and the rank of associate professor, and a record of leadership experience with the physical therapy profession or the university.
- Experience in the CAPTE review and accreditation process, including the writing of various documents and participation in successful site visits.
- Documented successful performance in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Experience in the administration of programs in higher education, including strategic planning, budgeting, operations, and collaboration with colleagues.
- First-line responsibility of CAPTE accreditation experience and FSBPT item writing.
