Radiation Oncology Clinical Nurse Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse Coordinator to join our team at The University of Kansas Hospital. This is a full-time position in the Radiation Oncology department.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating patient care, managing patient flow, and providing exceptional nursing support to our patients and families. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery and excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient flow, triage, and direct patient care
  • Liaise between front desk staff, nursing staff, physicians, and clinic manager
  • Develop expected patient outcomes, define resource utilization, and work with providers to set patient goals
  • Provide nursing support/coordination to optimize patient outcomes and improve quality of life through clinical and educational programs
  • Support patient self-management of disease
  • Coordinate continuity of patient care with patients and families following hospital admission, discharge, and ER visits
  • Manage high-risk patient care, including management of patients with multiple co-morbidities or high risk for readmission
  • Develop relationships with patients and use assessment skills to identify physical, psychosocial, financial, and environmental health care needs
  • Educate patients and ancillary personnel about healthcare needs, safety issues, and benefits
  • Utilize electronic tools to document assessments, clinical findings, plans of treatment, and progress toward goals

Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • A minimum of 2 years of RN experience
  • A valid multi-state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver certification from the American Heart Association

Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
