Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology Department at UT Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional care to canine and feline patients with cancer, working closely with our experienced oncologists to deliver high-quality treatment and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to veterinary medical and research staff in delivering cancer care, including medicine, surgery, and radiology.
  • Administer chemotherapy under the direct guidance of an experienced oncologist, ensuring accurate dosing and patient care.
  • Support radiation and chemotherapy treatments, including anesthesia and analgesia administration.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and assist with major surgical procedures, as needed.
  • Monitor patients closely, ensuring their well-being during and after treatment.
  • Educate and support pet owners in understanding and managing their pet's cancer diagnosis.
  • Collaborate closely with the radiation oncology team to provide comprehensive care.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and five years' experience working with animals in a clinical or research setting.
  • Completion of a veterinary technology program or equivalent.
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a clinic environment, with exposure to radiation, animal odors, and potential disease transmission. Employees will be expected to request assistance with lifting or carrying animals or materials over 40 pounds.
