Position Overview:

As a key member of the Product Engineering team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the manufacturability of our laundry appliances. Collaborating within diverse teams, your focus will be on engineering and validating components, assemblies, and systems that align with our business and sourcing objectives, while also meeting cost efficiency and warranty standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical and electrical subsystems and components.
  • Employ 3D CAD software (Creo) to create designs for sheet metal, plastic, die-cast, and machined parts, as well as various purchased components.
  • Assess and test designs for manufacturability, automation, performance, safety, reliability, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, innovate, and enhance existing designs.
  • Provide technical support during engineering and pilot production phases.
  • Draft, review, and refine technical documentation, testing protocols, and product specifications.
  • Manage and maintain product bills of materials.
  • Offer production support as required.
  • Participate in teams to guide products from concept through to production, utilizing structured qualification plans.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering is required.
  • Proficiency in designing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, particularly in sheet metal and plastic part design, electro-mechanical components, fasteners, bearings, and seals.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative project team environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on business objectives.
  • Experience in the appliance or consumer products sector is advantageous.
  • Hands-on contributor with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to articulate complex issues in accessible terms.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, guided by project goals.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and design for automation.
  • Proficient in standard PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with Creo and Windchill is highly valued.
  • Self-driven with exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven time management skills.
