About the Position

The Assistant Team Leader (ATL) will work in a Toyota Production System (TPS) environment, coaching, mentoring, and providing leadership to employees in the functional area of responsibility. The ATL will also perform tasks similar to those of production line employees and handle complex issues and problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance
    • Set an example for safety and foster a safe work environment within the functional area of responsibility.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Quality and Process Improvement
    • Ensure quality objectives are achieved.
    • Monitor processes to ensure quality checks are carried out and develop countermeasures against defects.
  • Leadership and Development
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement (kaizen) and make recommendations for implementation.
    • Provide leadership in TPS-driven processes and activities.
    • Assist in Jishuken activities.
  • Work Management and Coordination
    • Assign, monitor, and observe daily work assignments to ensure work standards and instructions are performed properly.
    • Interact with supervisor and/or manager daily to coordinate efforts and communicate effectively with employees.
  • Problem Solving and Employee Development
    • Use problem-solving techniques to proactively address issues or concerns internal to their functional area of responsibility.
    • Facilitate on-the-job and other specified training for employees in the functional area of responsibility.
  • Maintenance and Equipment
    • Monitor and arrange for proper preventive maintenance of machines, equipment, and facilities for the functional area of responsibility.
  • Leadership and Coaching
    • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to others.
    • Act as lead.
  • Recruitment and Selection
    • May participate in the interview process to select employees for their department.

About the Schedule and Work Environment

This position is 2nd shift and works in a factory setting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in accordance with company policy. The ATL will be required to stand for long periods of time and manually lift/move/manipulate parts up to 50 pounds or use cranes/hoists to move heavier materials.

About You

  • An Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience working in the functional area of responsibility is required.
  • Successful completion of the company's ATL curriculum program in the first year of being in the position is required.
