**Transportation Design Engineer Role**

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Design Engineer to join our team at Hoyle Tanner and Associates, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work on state agency and municipal roadway, traffic, drainage, and safety designs.

As a Transportation Design Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing calculations, layouts, estimates, and specifications for transportation design projects. You will also lead and guide junior engineers and CADD teammates, providing coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop their skills.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of project budget, scope of services, project development, and project schedule. They will be able to provide updates and recommendations to the Project Manager to maintain schedule and budget.

**Responsibilities**

  • Prepare calculations, layouts, estimates, and specifications for transportation design projects
  • Lead and guide junior engineers and CADD teammates
  • Assist in proposal efforts and development
  • Conduct site visits and participate in or lead meetings with clients/contractors
  • Develop person-hour estimates and budgets
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to develop entry-level and staff engineers, peers, and others as needed

**Requirements**

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's Degree preferred
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in NH, MA, ME, or VT
  • Experience with MaineDOT, NHDOT, VTrans, or MassDOT highway projects
  • Proficient in Microstation, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, Civil 3D, ArcView, In Roads, WORD, Excel, and MS Project
