About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fitter to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Industries. As a Fitter, you will play a critical role in the construction of our naval ships, working closely with our skilled tradespeople to ensure the highest quality and precision in every aspect of the build process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read, interpret, and execute drawings and procedures to plan and execute fabrication and assembly tasks
  • Measure, cut, grind, fit, align, and tack weld parts to ensure precise fit and finish
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing tasks in confined spaces
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and safe working practices
  • Meet production deadlines and quality standards
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • 1 or more years of experience in a related field, preferably in shipbuilding or fabrication
  • Prior experience on VCS and/or CLB programs is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Physical agility and ability to lift heavy objects
