About the Role

We are seeking an experienced fitter to join our team at Newport News Shipbuilding. As a fitter, you will be responsible for reading, interpreting, and executing drawings and procedures to measure, cut, grind, fit, align, and tack weld parts.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, climbing ladders and working at extreme heights, as well as working in small, tight, or confined spaces. You will also be required to lift heavy objects weighing 40 lbs. or more and work while repeatedly reaching overhead.

The ideal candidate will have strong math skills and a good mechanical aptitude, with prior experience on VCS and/or CLB programs being strongly preferred. A high school graduate or equivalent is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Requirements
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Prior experience on VCS and/or CLB programs strongly preferred
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
