Position Summary:
This role is situated within our Rocky Mountain Asphalt & Paving District Office and reports directly to the Finance Manager. The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial accounting, analysis, and support to both the Finance Manager and District Plant Personnel, focusing on enhancing the accuracy of daily financial transaction recording.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial closing processes, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and accurate product line reporting.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts to maintain financial integrity.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing valuable insights.
- Ensure timely and precise routine management reporting.
- Conduct standard and ad hoc analyses to inform management decisions.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audit requirements.
- Guide the implementation of effective internal controls, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Monitor adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Develop a thorough understanding of business operations.
- Provide accounting support to district personnel as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with Division and Corporate support teams.
- Commit to promoting and adhering to safety policies across all work environments.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Professional designation such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting.
- Experience in supervising professional and clerical staff is advantageous.
- Background in manufacturing or construction materials is a plus.
- Strong independent working capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven expertise in financial and business analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Familiarity with JD Edwards and IBM Planning Analytics is beneficial.
- Knowledge of GAAP is essential.
