We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated EMT (Relief) to join our team in Okaloosa County, FL. As an EMT (Relief), you will provide basic life support assistance on an emergency basis for the care and treatment of sick and injured individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Drive an ambulance in a variety of conditions in response to emergency calls.
- Provide basic life support, including medical and non-medical transfers.
- Participate in the care and upkeep of assigned equipment, including ambulances and life support equipment.
- Make presentations at schools, cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes, civic groups, and other public safety agencies.
- Assist with scene control and non-injured parties.
- Maintain adequate supplies of consumable supplies and restock as needed.
- Testify in court and give depositions as required.
- Attend training sessions and maintain all required certifications.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a good driving record.
- Florida registered EMT certification.
- CPR certification.
- EVOC certification within 30 days of hire.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced emergency environment, with frequent exposure to outside atmospheric conditions. The EMT (Relief) must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
The EMT (Relief) must also be able to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or running on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
The EMT (Relief) must be able to bend downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles, and be able to move about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
The EMT (Relief) must also be able to reach, extending hand(s) in any direction, handle, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand(s), and sit for long periods of time.
The EMT (Relief) must remain alert for long periods of time with little rest and work for sustained periods of exposure to outside atmospheric conditions.
Language AbilityThe EMT (Relief) must be able to communicate effectively in English, including the ability to convey, record, and exchange information, including receiving assignments and/or directions from supervisors.
The EMT (Relief) must also be able to explain procedures and give, receive, and follow oral and written instructions.
The EMT (Relief) must be able to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals, work orders, logs, technical data, and prepare written reports using appropriate format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
The EMT (Relief) must also be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical languages, such as mechanics and medical terminology, used within the parameters of the job.
IntelligenceThe EMT (Relief) must be able to apply principles of emergency medicine and common sense understanding to carry out detailed and involved written or oral instructions.
The EMT (Relief) must also be able to deal with problems involving variables in or from standardized situations, make independent judgments in the absence of a supervisor, and acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
The EMT (Relief) must have the ability to comprehend and interpret information.
Numerical AptitudeThe EMT (Relief) must be able to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, calculate percentages and decimals.
Interpersonal TemperamentThe EMT (Relief) must be able to tactfully and effectively interact with the public and with co-workers.
The EMT (Relief) must be able to perform under moderate to high levels of stress when confronted with an emergency or a tight deadline.
