WHAT WE REQUIRE FROM OUR LOGISTICS OPERATORS:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a driving role
  • Clean driving record and valid CDL
  • Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work weekends during peak seasons
  • Commitment to safety practices

Position Summary:

The Logistics Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and courteous delivery of petroleum products to both residential and commercial clients. This role reports to the Logistics Manager and involves ensuring that deliveries are made while upholding the company's standards and protecting customer property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily safety inspections of the delivery vehicle and report any maintenance needs
  • Review daily delivery manifests, load the vehicle, and execute deliveries in compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Adhere to established delivery protocols with a focus on customer satisfaction, efficiency, and productivity
  • Participate actively in team meetings
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and routing specialists
  • Maintain a professional appearance, including a clean uniform
  • Become proficient in using the handheld delivery device
  • Foster positive customer relations through professional interactions and respect for customer property
  • Keep the delivery vehicle organized and stocked with necessary tools and safety equipment
  • Participate in on-call schedules as needed
  • Prime heating systems for customers who are out of fuel or perform safety checks for propane systems
  • Engage in cross-training and support other departments as required

Additional Duties:

Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, with prior truck driving experience preferred.

Licensing and Certification:

  • Class B Commercial Driver's License with hazardous materials endorsement is required
  • CETP training and certification are necessary for propane delivery
  • Apprentice oil burner license is required for oil delivery
  • All operators must pass a D.O.T. physical examination
  • All operators are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing

Equipment Utilized:

Delivery vehicle, hoses, loading equipment, safety gear, and tools.

Decision-Making:

The operator is responsible for route planning and delivery decisions based on safety and weather conditions, with input from relevant personnel.

Safety Considerations:

Safety is paramount in the operation of the delivery vehicle and the handling of petroleum products. Any incidents must be reported immediately.

Other Required Attributes:

This position demands reliability, a commitment to outstanding customer service, the ability to work independently, and a solid understanding of the company's brand values.

Work Environment:

Approximately 50% of the time is spent outdoors making deliveries in various weather conditions, with exposure to fumes and moderate noise levels.

Physical Requirements:

The role involves frequent standing, walking, and sitting, with occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and handling.

Weight Handling:

Operators must be capable of maneuvering delivery hoses and occasionally assisting with heavier items.
