Evening Operations Associate Relations Manager

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Enhance positive associate relations while overseeing retail operations during evening shifts. Ensure adherence to company policies, practices, legal standards, and ethical guidelines. Manage evening merchandise quality and presentation, as well as the level of service provided to customers; guarantee that evening store conditions regarding appearance, security, safety, and food safety are consistently upheld at the highest standards. Cultivate associate and customer relationships and foster a robust culture in alignment with the Hannaford Strategy. Serve as a role model and mentor for key management on effectively managing performance, navigating change, and maintaining positive associate relations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Encourage a sales-oriented, customer-centric culture through relationship building and promoting an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer engagement.
  • Oversee the overall operation of the entire store, including supervision of all associates during evening hours.
  • Ensure the upkeep of the store's appearance and presentation while maintaining quality conditions for all products.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company security, safety, and food safety protocols.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of the causes and solutions for addressing inventory shrink issues in designated departments.
  • Maintain a solid grasp of standard practices across all departments.
  • Post open positions and actively recruit suitable candidates. Assist management in hiring decisions for key and salaried roles.
  • Act as the overseer of all training programs within the store. Ensure timely and appropriate training is provided to newly hired associates.
  • Provide coaching to management as necessary.
  • Supervise Learning Programs.
  • Review written counseling sessions and terminations for fairness and consistency.
  • Evaluate department climate and solicit associate feedback as needed. Collaborate with AR Specialist, Assistant Store Manager, and Store Manager to resolve issues.
  • Oversee Payroll Administrator to ensure payroll functions are completed accurately and punctually.
  • Collaborate with store leadership to support all changes affecting associates.
  • Assist with disability and workers' compensation cases; act as a liaison between corporate partners, retail managers, and associates.
  • Handle investigations and responses to associate and customer complaints.
  • Perform all other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

  • Preferred college degree or equivalent experience.
  • Retail management experience is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of store operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with utmost confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a demonstrated willingness to learn various tasks and technical requirements of the role.
  • Exemplary judgment.
  • Capability to lead and mentor associates across multiple departments.
  • Ability to effectively manage change.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar accrediting body as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or be required to attend company-provided training and achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring it.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to utilize computer and other communication systems necessary for job functions.
  • Ability to navigate a retail store, including occasional bending and lifting as part of various operational tasks.
  • Regularly lift up to 20 lbs., including overhead lifting, and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. Push/pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.
  • Meet established volume and fixed activity standards.
  • Stand or walk for the majority of the time.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, and lift individual stock items from below waist level or above shoulder level.
  • Capable of handling various substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and food production.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for short durations.
