About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. in the AWS Global Brick and Position Delivery organization. As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of Technical Program Managers who support the scaling initiatives of our global data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the progress of the networking brick program, anticipate risks, and resolve issues.
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements and processes.
  • Manage individual contributor job performance.
  • Manage dependencies and interfaces between projects and negotiate trade-offs.
  • Provide regular program progress reporting.
  • End-to-end responsibility for the program's execution and success.
  • Manage multiple competing projects simultaneously.
  • Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large groups informed of progress and obstacles.
  • Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow-up.
  • Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions.
  • Report ad-hoc, weekly, and monthly program and operating metrics.
  • Keep the customer experience as the primary focus.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of project management experience, or 7 years of project management experience (experience can be substituted for degree).
  • Minimum of 3 years managing teams with 310+ direct reports.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing complex technology or infrastructure-related projects.
  • 3+ years of experience involved in data centers, networking engineering, and/or systems engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or advanced professional degree.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS Sharepoint.
  • Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies as well as basic Python and SQL skills.
  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills, as well as a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment, and a proven track record of earning trust, taking ownership, and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
