About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services, Inc. in a key role that will drive the success of our AWS Global Brick and Position Delivery initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, with experience managing complex technology projects and teams. They will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of our data center scaling initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to define requirements and processes, and managing individual contributor job performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the networking brick program's overall progress, anticipating risks and resolving issues as appropriate.
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements and processes, ensuring consistency in deployed configurations and tracking exceptions for follow-up.
  • Manage individual contributor job performance, providing regular one-on-one meetings and technical and soft-skill mentoring.
  • Manage multiple competing projects/programs simultaneously, running meetings, creating and maintaining timelines, and keeping large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles.
  • Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions, reporting ad hoc, weekly, and monthly program and operating metrics.
  • Keep the customer experience as the primary focus, ensuring that all initiatives are aligned with our customer-centric approach.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of project management experience OR 7 years of project management experience (experience can be substituted for degree).
  • Minimum of 3 years managing teams ranging from 310+ direct reports.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing complex technology or infrastructure related projects.
  • 3+ years of experience involved in data centers, networking engineering, and/or systems engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or advanced professional degree.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS Sharepoint.
  • Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies as well as basic Python, SQL skills.
  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills as well as a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to be flexible in a rapidly changing environment as well as a proven track record of earning trust, taking ownership, and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
