Medical Assistant or LPN Lead Clinic Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant or LPN Lead to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and room patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting pertinent health information.
- Monitor and complete Clinical Integration/Quality Improvement measures with notification to clinicians for opportunities within their scope.
- Perform laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions/infection control guidelines.
- Assist physicians/advanced practice clinicians with procedures such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc.
- Administer routine medications under physician/APC orders or medical group approved standing orders/protocols.
- Follow through with necessary procedure or test requests, pre-approved care algorithms, new appointment times, and referrals to other facilities or services.
- Refer questions to registered nurses and physicians/APC per scope of practice guidelines and relay information back to patients as directed.
- Communicate with physicians/APC and other members of the healthcare team to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjust as necessary.
- Effectively communicate accurate and timely information with patients.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
- Advanced training beyond high school that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing for LPNs.
- GED or HS Equivalency Diploma and completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years for Medical Assistants.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
This role requires sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing, and reaching above shoulders throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present. Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood, and body fluids on a frequent basis and will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.
