Speech Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist is a key member of the clinical team, responsible for providing high-quality communication and swallowing services to patients. This role requires a strong foundation in speech-language pathology, with a focus on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients' communication and swallowing abilities, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating evidence-based practices and technologies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, including communication with caregivers, rehabilitation staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide education and training to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on communication and swallowing strategies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology, applying this knowledge to improve patient outcomes.
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- State License issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health or Provisional Rhode Island State License for Clinical Fellows involved in supervised clinical fellowship year.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- One to two years experience or eligibility for provisional license from the State of Rhode Island.
The Speech-Language Pathologist will work in a fast-paced clinical environment, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, as is the capacity to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis role does not involve direct supervision, but rather independent practice within the department's policies and practices. The Speech-Language Pathologist will be responsible for the clinical supervision of supportive personnel, Clinical Fellows, and students, ensuring the safety and welfare of patients.
