Role OverviewThe Net Power Cost Specialist will be responsible for the comprehensive development and advocacy of the Company's Net Power Costs (NPC) inputs across all pertinent filings and proceedings. This role entails providing technical direction and oversight for NPC production modeling and forecasting initiatives. The individual will also lead efforts to optimize resource utilization and enhance the technical expertise of the group's analytical and modeling personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the creation of net power cost reporting and analysis, including modeling that simulates the Company's loads and resources under various system conditions.
- Prepare and substantiate net power cost regulatory submissions, including general rate cases and power cost adjustment mechanisms, both in written form and as a witness.
- Represent PacifiCorp to regulators and external stakeholders through presentations and discussions.
- Provide expert guidance on the design and application of production cost models to improve efficiency, standardization, and reliability of model inputs and outputs.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure uniform practices in production cost modeling.
- Lead the design and development of innovative models and techniques for simulating the company's resources and special project requirements.
- Work with management to set timelines for reviewing net power cost outcomes and strategic exposure analyses.
- Prepare and assess responses to discovery inquiries.
- Mentor modeling staff, advocate for best practices, and ensure documentation of processes for effective resource management.
- Evaluate the implications of changes to modeling inputs and support departmental management in implementing these changes.
- Coordinate with other team leads to ensure efficient management and promote cross-training among staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent education and experience.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in revenue requirement preparation, net power cost simulation modeling, or related analytical roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of the company's resource system, including transmission systems, thermal resources, and risk management.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to engage with diverse organizational levels and backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering trust and understanding.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field.
