Position Overview
The Lead Cost Accounting Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and sustaining the cost accounting framework. This position necessitates a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, aligning with Trelleborg Sealing Solutions' Vision, Mission, and Values.
Reporting Structure
This role operates under the general guidance of the Controller and involves collaboration with various organizational levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily reviews and postings of manufacturing accounting entries.
- Analyze cost and variance trends, investigate significant discrepancies, and propose suitable actions.
- Prepare daily operational performance reports, including inventory movements, sales figures, and cost of goods sold, to promptly identify critical issues.
- Assess new Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Routers submitted for cost freeze for precision.
- Execute monthly inventory valuation and reconciliation of cost ledgers.
- Evaluate and authorize cost review requests, including analysis of operational impacts.
- Utilize ODBC reporting tools for data analysis as required for job functions or as requested by management.
- Manage data tasks in JDE through Z-files and mass upload features.
- Prepare and oversee operational forecasts based on budgetary guidelines, reviewing significant deviations and analyzing their operational impact.
- Establish labor and overhead rates consistent with operational budgets.
- Conduct annual cost roll and inventory revaluation, collaborating with purchasing and operations management to improve cost component accuracy.
- Provide assistance to colleagues with information and analysis as needed.
- Uphold and consistently apply our Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
Qualifications
This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field, along with over five years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting. Familiarity with an ERP system is essential, with a preference for JDE experience.

Work Environment
This position is situated within the administrative offices of a manufacturing facility, necessitating prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Manual dexterity for typing and significant time spent at a computer are required. Additionally, this role may involve spending approximately 5% of time on the production floor, where heavy machinery operates and noise levels are elevated.
