Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records for assigned brands and accounts. This role encompasses managing the annual audit process, preparing monthly financial statements, and conducting technical accounting research for special projects. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position collaborates extensively with various departments including corporate accounting, finance, brand leadership, and legal.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit schedules for key corporate accounts.
  2. Manage financial statement and FDD requirements, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  3. Prepare and review monthly consolidated financial statements, ensuring adherence to reporting standards.
  4. Support technical accounting analysis and facilitate the application of GAAP to various transactions and projects.
  5. Maintain and update the accounting system infrastructure in line with reporting requirements.
  6. Lead and mentor team members, managing their day-to-day responsibilities and development.
  7. Assist in technical accounting research and documentation.
  8. Monitor developments from FASB to assess impacts on accounting practices.
  9. Collaborate with JM Family to conduct annual impairment analyses for goodwill and intangible assets.
  10. Execute special projects and prepare analyses for senior management as needed.
  11. Manage controls and process narratives for the Financial Reporting department.
  12. Initiate continuous improvement projects and promote best practices within the team.
Additional Duties:
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and projects for senior leadership as required.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive managerial experience.
  • Experience in public accounting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with franchise accounting is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information.
