Role Summary:
The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a vital role in assisting pharmacists by preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications. All tasks are performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

This role is eligible for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which offers $5000 in commitment incentives distributed over a two-year period. Payments are made after six months, one year, and two years of service.

Shift Differentials:

  • Weekday Evening: 10%
  • Weekday Night: 10%
  • Saturday/Sunday Day: 5%
  • Saturday/Sunday Evening: 15%
  • Saturday/Sunday Night: 15%

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepares and compounds medications (including sterile products, oral, topical, and controlled substances) as authorized by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
2. Delivers and exchanges medications to the appropriate patient areas and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
3. Accurately documents pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing for medications and equipment, and ensures compliance with quality control standards.
4. Responds to customer inquiries regarding pharmacy services, including medication delivery and drug information.
5. Operates automated dispensing technology to ensure accurate medication supply for patients, following pharmacist and physician orders.
6. Manages inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and monitoring expiration dates.
7. Assists in training new staff members, providing guidance on job-specific tasks.
8. Participates in process improvement initiatives.
9. Conducts regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including controlled substance inventories and necessary documentation.


Additional Information

Education Requirements:
● No specific education required, although completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
● Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
