Job Summary

The Accounting Intern will gain knowledge of financial business models, reasoning to support business decisions, and the accounting complexity of the world's largest producer of biofuels.

This position is exposed to accounting principles, financial statement structure, and may assist with daily, monthly, and year-end reporting preparation and transactional activities.

In addition, this position will identify and monitor internal controls, participate in various projects, and work closely with the Corporate Financial Reporting and Accounting teams and Finance departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing financial analysis and researching variances to reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Performing various transactional duties, such as accounts receivables
  • Performing audits using various internal control policies
  • Assisting in cash strategies by analyzing financial data
  • Designing and improving financial reports to streamline data collection
  • Completing data validation and building ad hoc reporting utilizing the financial reporting software
  • Maintaining confidential files and databases
  • Assisting with special projects as necessary from a variety of team members

Requirements

  • You are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and are within 1-2 years of graduation
  • You value relationships and have a strong customer service focus
  • You are driven, organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
  • You have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently with a sense of urgency
  • You communicate effectively in writing and in person
  • You have strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills with the ability to suggest solutions
  • You have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel preferred
