This role is situated within the transmission division of our organization, collaborating closely with both internal and client engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering and design tasks associated with transmission line projects, including engineering assessments, design work, route selection, material procurement, structural and foundation engineering, as well as project and construction oversight.
  • Prepare essential project documentation, such as plan and profile drawings, design schematics, engineering specifications, material specifications, project timelines, and material lists.
  • Develop design alternatives for projects along with corresponding cost assessments.
  • Design new transmission infrastructure with voltage capacities ranging from 12 kV to 765 kV.
  • Utilize PLS-CADD software for modeling transmission line design projects.
  • Facilitate contractor bidding and construction meetings, ensuring that work is executed safely, adhering to plans, schedules, and compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Effectively coordinate with governmental and regulatory bodies to secure necessary project permits.
  • Provide leadership to ensure project completion, mentor junior engineers, and establish measurable objectives for the work area.
  • Act as the project lead for transmission initiatives.
  • Coordinate the activities of team members within the department to successfully complete transmission projects.
  • Offer training and support to less experienced staff.
  • Initiate corrective measures when project goals are not being achieved.
  • This position may require occasional site visits.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of experience in transmission line engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
  • A Master's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited) will be considered as part of the experience requirement.
  • An Oklahoma Professional Engineer (PE) License is mandatory.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including Project Management, Substation Design, Distribution, Supply Chain, and Right-of-Way teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Intermediate knowledge of standards and codes such as IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC.
  • Understanding of equipment, materials, ordering processes, and bills of material for substation construction.
  • Ability to comprehend the interrelationships between systems and component equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively, providing information and seeking assistance as needed.
  • Willingness and capability to take on leadership roles.
