Job Title: Direct Support Professional
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at Volunteers of America Mid-States. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing direct care, training, and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of our consumers, while also promoting their independence and self-advocacy.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the comfort and safety of consumers, ensuring their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met.
- Interact with consumers in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, reinforcing positive behaviors.
- Provide transportation and assist consumers with community integration, accompanying them to social and recreational activities.
- Perform general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry duties.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks and general maintenance to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in ongoing training programs and attend mandatory staff meetings.
- Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to read, write, and understand the English language. You must also be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to providing exceptional care.
