Job Summary

This position is located at Fort Jackson, SC, and is responsible for supervising children and youth in a group program setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and youth, and will be able to plan, coordinate, and conduct activities that meet the needs of individual children and youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise children and youth in a group program setting
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct activities that meet the needs of individual children and youth
  • Prepare and implement program options for children and youth with special requirements
  • Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques
  • Ensure assigned area maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent
Requirements
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Meet one of the following qualifications:
    • Possess and maintain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
    • Possess and maintain a Military School Age Credential
    • Possess and maintain an Army Youth Practicum
    • Possess and maintain a nationally recognized Youth Development Credential
    • Have two years of specialized experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus an associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours with a major course of study directly related to the age group to which assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience assisting with childcare or youth program national accreditation processes
  • Experience participating in multi-disciplinary or higher-level child/youth program inspections
  • Experience working with varying age groups (early childhood, school age, youth)
  • Experience leading or mentoring lower level childcare/youth program staff
