At Prisma Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and improving the health of our communities. As a Neurosurgery ICU Assistant, you will play a vital role in our mission by providing high-quality surgical assistance in the operating room and other medical settings.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist surgeons with prepping and completing procedures, ensuring seamless patient care.
  2. Provide general surgical assistance in the operating room, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  3. Removes drains, tubes, and catheters, promoting patient comfort and recovery.
  4. Closes incisions, ensuring proper wound care and minimizing complications.
  5. Assists with patient office visits and assumes call when assigned, demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care.
  6. Performs all charting, summaries, correspondence, and required paperwork, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  7. Participates in physician educational programs, staying current with the latest medical advancements and best practices.
  8. Collaborates with the healthcare team to establish quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, and patient education surveys, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  9. Assists in the development of operational and capital budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
  10. Participates in operational assessments, identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement, expense reductions, and billing improvements.
  11. Assists in post-operative care, including daily rounds and wound assessments, ensuring patient comfort and well-being.

Requirements

A Physician Assistant Program or equivalent certificate is required, along with 1 year of appropriate clinical experience. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is also necessary. In lieu of the above minimum requirements, completion of a Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program or approved Surgical Physician Assistant graduate program is acceptable.
