Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons with prepping and completing procedures, ensuring seamless patient care.
- Provide general surgical assistance in the operating room, maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
- Removes drains, tubes, and catheters, promoting patient comfort and recovery.
- Closes incisions, ensuring proper wound care and minimizing complications.
- Assists with patient office visits and assumes call when assigned, demonstrating a commitment to patient-centered care.
- Performs all charting, summaries, correspondence, and required paperwork, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Participates in physician educational programs, staying current with the latest medical advancements and best practices.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to establish quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, and patient education surveys, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Assists in the development of operational and capital budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial management.
- Participates in operational assessments, identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement, expense reductions, and billing improvements.
- Assists in post-operative care, including daily rounds and wound assessments, ensuring patient comfort and well-being.
Requirements
A Physician Assistant Program or equivalent certificate is required, along with 1 year of appropriate clinical experience. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is also necessary. In lieu of the above minimum requirements, completion of a Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program or approved Surgical Physician Assistant graduate program is acceptable.
Work Environment
This is a variable shift position, requiring flexibility and adaptability. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care and improving health outcomes.
