This role is situated within a collaborative team at our Slag plant, where each member plays a vital role in ensuring operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute mechanical maintenance tasks, including emergency and preventive measures.
- Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Superintendent to fulfill the operational needs of the facility.
- Continuously identify opportunities for enhancing maintenance processes.
- Ensure the availability of necessary tools and equipment for assigned tasks.
- Oversee the training of department personnel in maintenance skills and safety protocols, addressing any training gaps as necessary.
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory standards (i.e., OSHA, DOT, DOL) and maintain a strong safety culture within the workplace.
- Manage various projects, including contractor oversight, budgeting, and field supervision.
- Provide maintenance support across all shifts by participating in the on-call program, addressing maintenance issues during off-hours as needed.
- Establish and uphold high standards for safety and work quality within the department.
- Effectively utilize team members and contractors, actively engaging in safety initiatives and maintaining organized workspaces.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on troubleshooting and hydraulic systems.
- Previous supervisory experience is essential.
- Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Proven leadership abilities, both with and without direct authority.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude and a sense of ownership in your work.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and anticipate needs.
- Physical capability to perform tasks that involve walking, climbing, working in confined spaces, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to provide support during off-hours and weekends as required.
- A high school diploma is required; an Associate Degree from a technical institution is preferred.
This position operates within a manufacturing setting characterized by moving machinery, variable weather conditions, elevated noise levels, and dusty environments.
