About the Role

The ILD Program Strategy Director will play a critical role in developing and implementing a strategic plan to strengthen the infrastructure needed to coordinate, train, and develop thousands of youth and adult leaders in the power building ecosystem. This includes leading an iterative landscape scan, developing a shared definition and approach to cultivating dialogue between young people and long-time organizers, strengthening leadership pipelines, and developing an intentional strategy to support and retain current and future leaders within our movements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage project scope for an iterative landscape scan from consultant RFP to recommendations review with key MIC stakeholders, and sense-making to final deliverables.
  • In partnership with MIC leadership and other key stakeholders, develop and implement a strategic plan to strengthen the infrastructure needed to coordinate, train, and develop thousands of youth and adult leaders in the power building ecosystem.
  • Define and prioritize goals and outcomes into actionable workplans to meet the overall objectives of the strategic plan.
  • Cultivate networks and deepen relationships with practitioners, subject-matter experts, researchers, and capacity builders.
  • Work in close collaboration with other MIC leadership to ensure alignment, cross-fertilization, and shared programming across all program strategies.
  • In collaboration with Learning and Impact Director, oversee knowledge capture and dissemination related to ILD.
Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in leveraging lived experience to drive meaningful results and change.
  • A track record of building relationships with progressive organizational leaders.
  • Demonstrated expertise in community organizing and program development, with at least three-five years of experience in coalition and base-building.
  • Experience in Program Development, Capacity Building, and Youth Leadership Development/Youth Organizing.
  • A combination of related training and work experience for minimum of seven to ten years.
  • Leadership style that is action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, community-centered, and brings an innovative approach to addressing challenges.
  • Values cross-functional collaboration and building strong and trusted relationships across diverse individuals and groups of stakeholders.
  • A high-level of cultural awareness and experience working with different demographic and cultural groups.
  • A flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to handle strong opinions/feedback well, and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment.
  • Unafraid to tackle issues of race & equity both internally with MIC colleagues and networks externally with the field.
  • Strategic leadership abilities, and the ability to link the development of people with achievement of organizational outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess facilitation, training, and consultation skills in order to convene groups to interpret and examine data, make decisions, and move to action.
