We are looking for a meticulous, organized, and proficient writer and editor to enhance our content division.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Content Editor position should be a talented and adaptable content creator/reporter/editor who can seamlessly navigate various multimedia and social media platforms while significantly contributing to our diverse portfolio of content brands.

All editorial staff must ensure compliance with deadlines and schedules while upholding editorial standards and brand integrity. This role will involve professional engagement with various company departments and an audience comprising users, readers, advertisers, and contributors. The position may require travel and public speaking engagements.

Our brands span several dynamic sectors, including school bus fleets, vehicle fleets, public safety/law enforcement, and the professional salon industry. Bobit associates operate remotely.

Responsibilities encompass but are not limited to:

  • Conducting research, writing, editing, and producing content, both as assigned and through the development of new content concepts, including departments, features, videos, podcasts, photo galleries, webinars, etc.
  • Engaging in content planning for digital, print, and social media platforms.
  • Leading and managing projects such as surveys, awards programs, supplements, and editorial advisory boards.
  • Overseeing brand social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Collaborating with editors, design, and media operations teams to manage the flow of monthly print issues, including editing and proofreading tasks.
  • Working with editors and web teams to manage digital content, including creating and posting content in CMS, editing others' work, distributing e-newsletters, and analyzing traffic and engagement metrics.
  • Cooperating with the events department on webinars and events (both in-person and virtual).
  • Attending various industry events and press conferences; developing and delivering presentations.
  • Staying informed about industry terminology and trends, maintaining regular communication with readers, industry leaders, and advertisers.
  • Fulfilling select public speaking roles, including speaker introductions, moderating conference panels, and delivering live presentations.
  • Coordinating with external contributors for columns and freelance content.
  • Embracing new technologies, media platforms, online programs, and workflow methodologies.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of SEO best practices and Google Analytics.
  • Editing and revising news releases as necessary and posting them online.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • B.A. degree in journalism, media, or communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a writer/editor (both print and digital); experience in B2B media is advantageous.
  • Experience in the transportation, trucking, or automotive sectors is a plus.
  • Proven ability to lead a team of creative professionals (both internal and external).
  • Demonstrated excellence in editing, proofreading, interviewing, news reporting, feature article writing, and content development.
  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of content marketing and SEO best practices.
  • Experience managing social media for a business.
  • Willingness to travel and engage in public speaking.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and its application to content.
  • Basic photo-editing skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to drive projects forward to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with designers to develop cover concepts.
  • Experience in photography, video, podcasting, webinars, and events is preferred.
