ERG seeks an experienced editor to provide copyediting, proofreading, and occasional writing support. Working remotely, the editor will contribute to developing technical and scientific documents, website text, and other materials. The editor will primarily work as a member of the ERG team that provides facilities planning and engineering services to the Department of Defense and other federal facilities. However, this position will include occasional assignments to support other ERG teams.

Job Description:

  • Copyedit and proofread documents, website text, presentations, and proposals
  • Provide accurate and consistent edits that are in accordance with project style and required formats
  • Ensure text is written in language appropriate for the intended audience
  • Work with project managers, the design team, and/or other editors to resolve questions or issues
  • Provide occasional support to develop original writing

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2+ years of copyediting experience
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication and editing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while delivering high-quality work
  • Working knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and The Associated Press Stylebook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • BA/BS in journalism, English, or a related field
  • Conversancy in editing content that is technical in nature (engineering, standard operating procedures, policies)
  • Experience editing or writing reports and other documents for the Department of Defense/U.S. Navy (preferred)
