Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough field investigations and assess failures and incidents related to various electrical systems and equipment.
  • Perform evaluations on damaged and failed components to identify the root causes of issues, including but not limited to electrical fires, appliance failures, and lightning damage.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles in compliance with industry standards during investigation analyses.
  • Carry out impartial field and laboratory investigations for a diverse clientele.
  • Deliver professional presentations, cultivate client relationships, and effectively communicate findings to client groups.
  • Provide clear and concise technical reports and conclusions, both verbally and in writing, suitable for non-technical audiences.
  • Support findings with appropriate testimony in legal settings.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration is mandatory.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant post-academic experience in electrical engineering is required; additional experience is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in power systems, controls, and the National Electrical Code (NEC) is beneficial.
  • Interest in fire-related investigations is a plus; training will be provided.

Skills:
  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
  • Public speaking experience is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%, primarily by vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Capability to handle heavy artifacts from investigation sites.
  • Ability to carry equipment and navigate various environments, including climbing ladders.
  • Flexibility to work at different hours and travel by air as needed.
