Department Overview
The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for the upkeep of three Good Samaritan Society facilities. Duties will include:
- Working three days a week at the Care Center & The Lodge of Howard Lake Assisted Living
- Spending two days a week at The Lodge of New Hope Assisted Living
- Scheduled for 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday
- Day shifts will vary between 8:00am - 4:15pm and 9:00am - 3:30pm
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Must obtain a MN Special Engineer Boiler's License within six months of hire.
- Starting wage is $17.50, with adjustments based on experience.
- Eligible for comprehensive employee benefits including Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401k retirement plan, and PTO accrual.
This position will report to the Facilities Manager and will involve a diverse range of responsibilities that may change daily. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Accountable for performing light maintenance and cleaning tasks in a safe and professional manner. Special care must be taken in patient/resident areas to ensure safety.
Essential skills include basic mechanical knowledge and proficiency in using hand tools, meters, measuring devices, and gauges.
Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals is advantageous.
Must be resourceful, capable of troubleshooting, and able to research necessary support documents.
Effective communication skills are required to accurately describe conditions and situations during troubleshooting, while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
Compliance with all corporate and facility policies, including dress code, is mandatory. Understanding both written and verbal communications is essential.
Work independently with minimal supervision and possess knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances.
Depending on the facility's size, additional responsibilities may include installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, ensuring a safe environment; maintaining campus grounds; and performing general tasks such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair.
On-call duties may be required as directed by the department.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Trade or vocational school experience is advantageous.
A minimum of two years of experience in building systems is preferred.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record may be required based on location.
