Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welding Operations Improvement Specialist to join our team at Huntington Ingalls Industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for expediting the implementation of productivity and quality improvements in welding operations. This will involve coordinating assigned projects from initiation through implementation, which may require initiation and coordination of equipment purchases/testing/modification, training program development, design changes, etc.

Key Responsibilities

- Expedites the implementation of productivity and quality improvements in welding operations
- Coordinates assigned projects from initiation through implementation
- Provides technical and hands-on assistance to Trades personnel in the implementation of automatic systems and new materials introductions
- Assists in job planning, equipment set-up and the troubleshooting of problems incurred during implementation

Requirements

- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum of five years production welding experience
- Knowledge of ship construction methods, welding processes and equipment, and applicable welding and quality procedures
- Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

- NNS Apprentice graduate
- Experience in the operation of automatic welding processes
- Knowledge of Shipyard equipment and processes as well as knowledge of filler metal specifications and requirements
